My Story
Bellamy Kennels strives to protect and preserve the quality of the English Cocker Spaniel. We have a sincere love for this breed and strive to preserve, protect, and improve the breed as a whole. We are a small hobby breeding kennel, and primarily focus on giving our pets a fun, happy life as members of our family.
My love for animals began early on, as I started in 4-H at the age of 9, actively exhibiting a wide variety of livestock animals. As my knowledge grew, I coupled my love for dogs with the new-found love of dog shows, and everything took flight from there. I began exhibiting Labrador Retrievers in 2003, and soon ventured out into other sporting breeds, discovering my deep fascination and love for the English Cocker Spaniel. I have since dedicated myself to learning more about the breed and the tricks of the trade of caring for, grooming, and handling show dogs as well learning what it takes to become a successful breeder. I have extensive experience under many of the nation's top professional handlers, and have spent a number of years under their guidance across the country, compiling their knowledge into my own as well as becoming a student of the breed under so many knowledgeable and incredible breeders. I have so many breeders, handlers, clients, and friends to thank for getting me where I am today and cannot ever thank them enough for their generosity.
My first English Cocker, Calypso's Just A Parti Girl "Confetti", bred by Kelly Cooper, was my wonderful introduction to the breed back in 2009, she garnered 5 points to her Championship before retiring as a family pet at my parents' ranch. My relationship with Kelly grew and she entrusted me in handling her gorgeous full-tailed Finnish import puppy, CH Northworth Vail Of Honour "Dusty", who quickly became a Champion at just 16 months of age. I then took some time off working for professional handlers for a few years before returning to the ECS ring in 2013 when another great friend, Valerie Schuetze, had asked me to handle her Canadian bitch at the National. Shortly afterwards I was ecstatic to own another ECS, Cantabria Iconic "Beckham", from Val. He garnered a few Championship points before retiring as a family pet in BC, Canada. I now co-own his daughter, granddaughter, and several great-grand puppies with Val. During that time I began taking on ECS clients of my own, introducing me to so many wonderful breeders and owners whom I am very fortunate to call close friends. I have since quit handling to pursue my passion for breeding and wouldn't have it any other way. In 2015 I then acquired my very first foundation bitch, BISS GCHB Golden Gait Joyful In Hope ECM CGC "Merry" from my wonderful friend Debbie Owczarzak, she is everything I wanted as the foundation for my breeding program and then some. She has been incredibly successful in the show ring and has exceeded all expectations in so many ways. I took time to not only complete Nursing school, but also to further my knowledge as a student of the breed before breeding my very first ECS litter in 2019. "Merry" is now inducted into the ECSCA Hall of Fame as an English Cocker of Merit with 11 Champions produced to date. As my foundation bitch, she has been an absolute dream come true. As of 2023, we have now bred 14 AKC Champions, all stemming from Merry and I cannot wait to see where the future takes us. I am incredibly proud of all that I have accomplished in this breed with help from all the numerous breeders, exhibitors, and friends I now call my family. The future is bright!
My passion for the English Cocker Spaniel breed and pursuit of the sport drives me onto the future, and I couldn't be more excited!
We are proud to be an an AKC Breeder of Merit and member of the National parent club, The English Cocker Spaniel Club of America, as well as the English Cocker Spaniel Club of Northern California.
